Very reminiscent of a 2013 release I had a while back. Initially, nose and taste was coming of as a lot younger than what it offers at the end of its bottle life. So further oxidization is necessary IMHO. Either keep it open for a day or two, or decant. The dram, as I reviewed it here, requires no further notes. Simply great stuff!
Nose All kinds of dried fruit – raisins, prunes, and dates. Acidity and sweetness intermingle right away. Oranges and caramel, Turkish delight, rose water, and cinnamon.
Taste Creamy sweetness, mentholated oak, and cough drops. Initially these notes are hard to pin down as they are heavily interwoven – associations of dates, figs, and raisins become apparent however. Caramel and lavender, as well as vanilla and herbal tea.
Finish Medium. Honeyed and sweet, lightly herbal and mild-mannered tannins.
